Digital Dimensions & Beyond

Field Trips

To get us all out and shooting on a regular basis, the club tries to organize monthly field trips. Some are field trips around town that may only last a couple hours and some may be weekend trips to another city or state. Every one gets you excited to be out photographing the world around you. Join us for image making, fun and friendship.

The following events can also be found on our Calendar of Events.

Upcoming Field Trips

Our Freeze Your Buns Off event has become, “Just another nice day at the Arboretum”

This Saturday morning you are invited to visit the Overland Park Arboretum to capture the landscape as it appears for most of the winter. The park opens at 8AM, but you are welcomed to join us anytime that morning. We are planning to meet in the classroom within the Visitor’s Center at 11:00. Lunch follows for all interested.

Tripods are OK, but please keep the legs on the trails (yours and those of the tripod). Also, you cannot block the passing of other visitors – You may need to fold-up briefly if a large group comes along. Large deflectors are discouraged.

The Arboretum is known for the plantings located not far from the Visitor’s Center. You also may want to check out the Train Garden where operating electric trains travel through a reconstruction of early downtown Overland Park. For hikers, there are several great trails located to the south. Maps are available at the Center.

There is a $3 admission charge. If you are a regular visitor, consider becoming a Friend of the Arboretum (FOTA)…Here are the details…

Your membership in FOTA supports programs and capital improvements and produces many special events that draw visitors to the Arboretum. Benefits include: Free admission to the arboretum during normal operating hours (does not include special events), Spring Plant Sale preview night, 10% discount at Spring Plant Sale, FOTA Annual Social Event, Monthly e-Newsletter, other FOTA events as announced, and participation in the Reciprocal Admissions Program sponsored by the American Horticulture Society involving more than 200 gardens and arboretums. Membership Levels: Member ($35, one individual, one card), Dual ($50, two individuals, two cards) and Family ($75, up to six family members, two cards).

Please send me a note if you plan to attend so we can plan for classroom seating.

See you Saturday
